Shopping & Recreation

Recreation
The Siri Fort Sports Complex, Delhi Golf Club & Qutub Golf Club at Ladoo Sarai are some of the places where one can go for recreation or a game of golf. We can guide you on these facilities and how to use them.

We can also arrange yoga lessons by a certified yoga teacher who can give you personal & private lessons whether for a single visit or for daily practice during your stay. If you want a 'Kerala Massage' you can get one at an authentic center at close-by Green Park. In the mood to indulge yourself? An exotic spa experience awaits you at the Asian Roots (salon cum spa) within walking distance. If you rather prefer nature walks, Deer Park, Rose Garden & the District Park are within the vicinity of the guesthouse.

Shopping
Dilli Haat – This off-beat Delhi market has been deliberately made to feel like a traditional village market, called a 'haat'. Small thatched roof cottages with a rural atmosphere give it a village ambiance. The market offers an exciting blend of handicrafts, food, and cultural activities which resembles a mosaic of rural India.

  • Location: Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi.
  • Opening Hours: Daily from 10.30 a.m. to 10 p.m., including national holidays.
  • What to Buy: Indian handicrafts and artifacts.

Tibetan Market & Janpath – This very popular and lively market in Central Delhi, which was recently given a makeover, has something for everyone. You'll find goods from everywhere in India and from Tibet here. It's a great place to shop for things to take back home. Be prepared to use all your bargaining skills to get a really decent price!

  • Location: Janpath, Connaught Place.
  • Opening Hours: Daily.
  • What to Buy: Handicrafts, hippy clothing, shoes, paintings, brassware, Indian artifacts, leather work and cheap jewelry.

Khan Market – This small market is one of New Delhi's classiest. Bargain hunters are likely to be disappointed at this market. One of the best things about this market are its many interesting bookshops. It's also got some excellent tailoring shops that will make you a suit in less than a week. For Ayurvedic food, medicine and skin-care check out Biotique and Khadi. You'll find some quaint lounges tucked away where one can relax with a book and a cup of coffee.

  • Location: South New Delhi, near India Gate.
  • Opening Hours: Daily except Sundays
  • What to Buy: Books, music, branded and tailored clothes, Ayurvedic food, cosmetics and lamps.

Chandni Chowk – This shopping district in Old Delhi has been in existence for hundreds of years from Mughal times. An exploration of its winding, narrow alleyways is an adventure in itself. The lanes of Chandni Chowk are divided into bazaars with different areas of specialization. While Katra Neel is famous for fabrics, in the Bhagirath Palace area, you'll find a huge range of electronics goods. One of the most popular is Dariba Kalan, Old Delhi's ancient silver market for silver jewelry. Food vendors in Chandni Chowk serve up a delicious assortment of Delhi street food. Don’t forget to visit 'Paranthe Wali Gali'  for vegetarian delicacies found nowhere else.

  • Location: Old Delhi.
  • Opening Hours: Daily except Sundays.
  • What to Buy: Fabrics, jewelry and electronic goods.

Fabindia – If you've coveted Indian ethnic-chic at stores like the Conran Shop in London or New York, here's your chance to buy the fabrics and crafts at one-tenth the price. Fabindia sources its products from more than 7,500 crafts people and artisans around India.

  • Locations: N Block Market GK-1, Khan Market & Vasant Kunj

Santushti Shopping Complex – A calm green haven sprinkled with swanky boutiques, Santushti is the antithesis of Delhi's boisterous bazaars. Cigar aficionados will appreciate Kastro’s, which has a range of fine Cuban cigars & Davidoff mini-cigarillos etc. Lotus Eaters sells sublime old gold and silver pieces including Ganesha pendants while Anokhi (branch also at Khan Market) specializes in quality block-printed textiles, from table cloths to garments.

  • Location: Chanakyapuri, South Delhi.
  • Opening Hours: Daily except Sundays.

Central Cottage Industries Emporium – This government-run store has six floors of handicrafts from all over India. Whether it's wood carvings, brassware, paintings, clothes, textiles, furniture or that big statue of Ganesha you're after, you'll find it here. The quality of goods is high and prices are fixed, so you can take a break from the haggle hassle.

  • Location: Janpath, Connaught Place.
  • Opening Hours: Daily except Sundays.

State Emporia – A unique shopping experience is a visit to various State Emporia at Baba Kharak Singh Marg near Connaught Place for handicrafts and other items from every Indian State. Here you will find a staggering array of goods at affordable prices. Check out the following:
